Mission Hills High School Nature Club Collaboration

The Environmental Center of San Diego recently did a collaboration with the Mission Hills High School Nature Club to do some community service hours. The club reached out to ECOSD with the idea of using iNaturalist as means of community service. They proposed supervised hikes with a minimum number of species entries for students to add to a collaborative project.  INaturalist is a website of scientists and citizen scientists who share their findings of biodiversity in areas near them. It can be a great resource for scientists to use community gathered data to create studies based on native diversity. The first hike took place at Torrey Pines, and the other scheduled hikes will take place in various preserves, trails, and parks in San Diego County. Below are some photos of the first hike.
